2007 National Maine-Anjou Show and Convention

North American International Livestock Exposition (N.A.I.L.E.) - Nov. 10-13, 2007 - Louisville, Ky.

The 2007 National Maine-Anjou Show and Convention was held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky. An outstanding set of cattle represented the breed.

AMAA committee meetings and the annual membership meeting were held and
a new executive board of directors was announced.

New to this year's National Maine-Anjou Show and Convention was the re-initiation of an annual AMAA Banquet. The banquet is a means for Maine-Anjou enthusiasts from around the country to unite in one place and at one time. A social, meal, entertainment and the annual AMAA awards were given on the banquet night. It was a huge success!

Some of the awards handed out were 30 plus years of service to AMAA members who have stood behind the breed for over 30 years, nine recipients received this award. They include: Cottonwood Cattle Company, Danny Davis, Eustace, Texas; County Line Maine-Anjou, John Schuessler, Castell, Texas; DeJong Ranch, Miles DeJong, Kennebec, S.D.; David Gilger, San Saba, Texas; James Farms, Larry James, Paris, Mo.; K&A Farm, Kenny Bremer, Blakesburg, Iowa; Maple Wind Farms, Joyce McKee and Robert Ricker, New Paris, Ohio; O'Dell Farms, LeRoy O'Dell, Byars, Okla.; VanderHolm Cattle Company, Chris VanderHolm, Villisca, Iowa. The American Maine-Anjou Association recognized these operations for their many years of dedication and support.

Retiring AMAA Board of Directors were also recognized for the dedication and years of service. Retiring board members include: Jirl Buck, Madill, Okla.; Gene Rowe, West Manchester, Ohio; and Tim Weber, Tecumseh, Neb.

Also given was the prestigious National Breeder of the Year Award as well as the Maine Man of the Year Award. Those award winners were Beauprez Land & Cattle, Byers, Colo., for the National Breeder of the Year and Jirl Buck, Buck Cattle Company, Madill, Okla., for the Maine Man of the Year. Nashville humorist, Rik Roberts, ended the night with some great entertainment.
